Four championship golf courses

A growing sport around the village more and more families are now coming to Whistler just for the Golf. There are four championship designed Golf courses located close to or within the resort and early booking is recommended.

  1. Chateau Whistler.
    Cut into the Blackcombe mountains this Golf course has generously wide landing areas. The golf course was designed by Robert Trent Junior and features plenty of water. The course has a distance over the 18 holes of just over 6000 yards.

  2. Big Sky Golf and Country Club
    Approximatly 30 miles North of the resort this course was designed by Rober Cup and has beautiful vies over the surrounding mountains.

  3. Nicklaus North
    Designed by another world famous golfer Jack Nicklaus. This course is set alongside the Green Lake and is a true test of any golfers ability.

  4. The Whistler Golf Course.
    Designed by the World famous Arnold Palmer this course has great water features with 9 lakes.

Hiking and Mountain biking

Alpine Hiking
Marked hiking trails on Whistler Mountain range from quick walks to the lake or 5 hour hikes through Singing Pass.




Mountain Bike Descents/Clinics

Programs vary from full descents to guided instruction, depending on the ability and goals of the guest. Descend from over 6,000 feet to the valley, choosing from a number of mountain routes based on your ability and stamina. Clinics include instruction in the art of descending, cornering, speed control and balance skills. A Sunset Descent is also available from the top of Whistler Mountain with an expert guide.


Mountain Biking
The mountain biking programs on Whistler Mountain have expanded this season to include a variety of options for the whole family. The 1999 programs include everything from thrilling descents from 6,000 feet to scenic tours of the Whistler Valley. A number of instructional programs are also available for those looking to improve their skills and ride with others at a comparable skill level.

Whistler Mountain Bike Park and Learning Centre
Located at Olympic Station, one-third the way up Whistler Mountain, the bike park and learning centre will oversee a variety of single-track trails, as well as a planned supercross track, and dual slalom and technical freeride trails located between Olympic Station and the Valley. New this season is a Training Centre that allows riders to challenge their technical skills in simulated trail situations in a controlled environment. Times: Same as the lift times - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (later if lift open). Dates: Scheduled opening is May 22 with lift access to June 11. Summer lift access daily from July 1 to Sept. 19 and weekends until October 10, 1999 (weather permitting)


Sightseeing & tours

ATV Tours
Explore Whistler Mountain's backcountry where you'll find spectacular views of glaciers, peaks, wildlife and remnants of an ancient volcano. Our state-of-the-art All Terrain Vehicles provide you with an unforgettable backcountry experience.

Alpine Sightseeing
Even if you don't ski or ride you can still take in the amazing view of the Coast Mountain Range and Whistler Valley. Board the Whistler Gondola from the Village and get whisked up to the Roundhouse Lodge - you can even join your skiing/riding friends for lunch.

Helicopter Mountaintop Tours with Blackcomb Helicopters
These exhilarating tours take you directly from the alpine of Whistler-Blackcomb into the scenic beauty of the Coast Mountain Range. Enjoy spectacular peaks, pristine lakes and ice blue glaciers a great way to enhance a day of summer sightseeing o the mountain.

Horseback Tours
Catch some of Blackcomb's spectacular vistas on horseback with a tour through Pemberton Stables. Tours from the base of Blackcomb are scheduled to begin just before the May 24 Victoria Day long weekend, and feature a one-hour circular route which climbs up to 1,000 feet up. Daily tours start at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and include two to three guides depending on the size of the group.


Other activities

Alpine Slide
Located at the base of Blackcomb and scheduled to open in mid-June, the Westcoaster is a slide with its own lift. Hop on a sled at the base of the mountain and enjoy the slow lift up, then slide down the track, controlling your speed with a handy hand brake.

Climbing Wall
Located at the base of Blackcomb, the Great Wall will provide an opportunity for all to test their climbing skills in a controlled and safe environment. Ropes and equipment are provided.
